What is development finance?

Development finance is lending designed to fund property development projects, from converting a single building into flats, to ground-up construction of multiple homes or commercial units. It can cover the cost of the land or site, the build itself, or both.

Funds are typically released in stages as the project progresses, against agreed milestones and site valuations. The loan is usually exited by selling the completed units or refinancing onto a longer-term product once the work is finished.
